trappa 518
Me and my lad saw it last night. He said it was a meteor, i thought it was a firework but realised it wasnt when it just carried on! It was flying north to south. Beautiful, big glowing tail!
Moll. 1,770
It went way further south than I thought it would.... was seen in Stoke on Trent... wierd how we heard a boom from that far away??? Maybe sonic boom or something else? Maybe stoke has been blown off the map lol I think the boom you heard may have been from Otterburn firing rage, i heard/felt it in the house last night, there had been a couple really big ones earlier on just before dark. Get them periodically here, sometimes so big the windows rattle

And was there lamping when I seen it LOL The boom was faint... and from the south... to be honest I didnt really think it was the thing crashing into earth until another poster said he heard it too, and he was in Co.Durham, just seemed a bit of a coincidence. Moll. 1,770
Perhaps that is what i heard then I don't envy you living that close to the ranges, do you have to superglue your ornaments down...always wanted to ask someone from there what it is like being so close

The thing I do like is the peace (between the bombs and guns lol) I can walk all day and not see a sole, plus the farmers and folk are canny enough chaps, usually spare the time for a chat. I can only imagine, i must live about 20ish mile away and some of the really huge explosions make my house literally shake, birds lift from trees, dogs jump. And the constant rat tat tat of machine guns. Then there are the jet fighter planes and helicopters from Boulmer, the sonic boom from them flying low over here does the same. Do they ever sorta combine forces when simulating battles over the range? But i wouldn't change any of it, those lads are all heros plus i get free aerial displays
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Im always getting caught in the middle of full scale battles, quite impressive to see at night with the tracer rounds, and flares etc

stabba 10,745
For all the astrologer academics out there who say they "thought" it was a meteor shower are lying...Nothing and i mean nothing gets past these guys without them havin prior warning. Probably kept hush hush for fear of sparking a hysteria end of the world type scenario imo..atb stabba
Paid 935
lol, the bigger fear is that pretty much everything does get past any thing they have to monitor it, makes you think a big one could strike and first we would know would be the mushroom cloud. Still, its cool that so many of you got to see this meteor

Paid 935
if you read the eye witness reports it was a very strange meteor it changed direction, colour and what about the bang that was herd Well, it was a bigun, that alone makes everything else seem "odd" to lots of people, who then look for "things" i'm no expert, but i'll throw a few ideas out there, it changed colour as it came through the atmosphere, and burnt up more/less oxygen, the bang could of been sound barrier booms? but the thing that most makes me think it was just a big meteor is all the proper outdoors folk on here that actually saw it, and say is was a big meteor ?
