.17 hmr zeroing problem with ballistic tips

Recommended Posts

I usually use 20g full metal jacket rounds for shooting fox, but a friend said i should try using ballistic tip ammo because of their destructive properties. I cant get them to zero at all, they are 17g hornady rounds. I can instantly re zero with my normal ammo after ,so what can be causing this? I have also tried the 17g remmington ballistic tips with the same problem. Is it possible that my gun just dislikes all ballistic ammo? HELP!!!

There shouldnt be any problem, the vmax are the best ones imo.

What rifle do you have, what range are you zeroing at?

Shooting foxes with 17g bullets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No issues with that rich, I've had them out to 140 in the right conditions, but I am aware this already might be the start of a wind up again about the whole fox issue, and the 17, so dont bite!

cant zero/wont zero, spits them all over the place. the remmington rounds i would have needed a 2ft board to catch the 5 rounds that were put through it, thats before i even changed windage or elevation on scope. hornady rounds wern't as bad as that.

Yep no offence pal, but skuldugery sometimes happens on here.

Ballisticly, there is no reason why this is happening, if the rifle is in good order, and to be out by so much but then ok again with another design of bullet, just doesn't seem possible at 100.

the .17hmr for its size is a dirty round in such a small bore, and needs a good routine to keep it shooting,

if you haven't kept a good cleaning routine then your in for lots of work, trust me i had one of the first hmr's on the market in europe,

its serial no is just over seventeen thousand...

good luck with it...
