dogs-n-natives 1,182
Just got this coolpix, nice thing... tried it on pretty much all the settings, but cant fecking stop the image being blurry? If either my hand or the target is moving the pic is blurry as feck. Cant get my head round it, im scrolling through the instructions now, not much help so far. It does say it has a fast shutter speed which takes great action shots?????? Advice welcome. And needed before this damn thing goes through the window!! lol All the best DnN
tegater 789
With a compact, if your taking moving pictures in low light, as it often is at this time of year, it wont be able to give you a fast enough shutter speed. The other thing it might be is, the auto focus, is not in focus at the time the shutter opens, or with the shutter lag, i.e the time it takes the shutter to open after pressing the button, you are already moving away from the shot. If that makes sense. Remember to follow through as you would with a golf swing, a gun, throwing a ball etc.
just jack 998
i don't have 1 but if its like my kodak or even phone if you lightly touch the capture picture button it lights up green then press again to take the pic, maybe not the same kind of thing but worth a try
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Yeah thanks for the replies chaps, what you both say makes sense but ive tried it all, im usually not bad with cameras phones etc but this has me beat. I should be able to be moving the camera slowly, press the button and thepic should be clear, ffs my phone does that on sport mode!! lol But this dosent have a sport mode only a multi capture sport thing which is ok, but I dont wana take 4 pics every time lol Back to drawing board thanks for help so far, appreciated
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Oh and on the multi capture sport thing, it drops the pic quality down to 3 mega pixel from 14 ffs... it gets worse, if the subject is even slowly moving, its blurred, if im slowly moving or not exactly steady as a rock, its blurred. NIKON COOLPIX = UTTER SHITE my f*****g phone takes better pictures.. and after all the good things I hear about nikon. Thats it im torturing the b***%*d untill it fecking works or dies!
tegater 789
Try it on a tripod or table top on self timer. If that picture is blurred, then the camera is possibly buggered.
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Try it on a tripod or table top on self timer. If that picture is blurred, then the camera is possibly buggered. The ONLY way it will take a nice pic, is if both the camera and the subject are totally stationary. Thats the point im trying to make. It focusses fine. Just cant handle any movement whatsoever... it is the worst camera ive ever had, including 3.99 disposables. sorry this thing has me pissed lol need to get out with the dogs. Anyone else got one? I think its going back to the shop tomorow Edited March 4, 2012 by dogs-n-natives

dogs-n-natives 1,182
did you have the same problem as me? I just wanted a simple point and shoot camera, thats capable of taking shots of my dogs in action... back to the drawing board I guess, the coolpix cant even take a shot of my dog walking. Yn Manninagh 45
Hi Dogs, seem like you've bought a pup. I've just been reading a review of your camera and it's not good. "One of the more interesting features of the Nikon Coolpix L120 is the Sport Continuous shooting mode. The highest selectable resolution is restricted to three megapixels, but you can shoot at a speed of up to 15 frames per second for up to 20 frames in a row. This can be helpful with capturing fast motion, although we found that focus tracking does not work in this mode, meaning your subject may go out of focus if its distance to the camera changes while it moves." If you want good photos of your dog in action my adivce would be to sell it. Then look online for reviews of any other camera you have in mind. Yes,I had the same problems, but I just thought it was down to me,as I'm not the best photographer I used to have a Nikon D40, and that seemed to take better pics in fact I'm thinking about getting another one.
