Bryan 1,362
would they be safe for using on a dug fox, what danger of ricochets? Bryan Quote Link to post
waz77 15
I suppose there's a small risk, ive heard stories of people shooting themselves in the foot but i dont know anyone who has so they could just be stories, for a ricochet it'd have to pass through fox hit ground and pass back through fox again so i would'nt worry too much about it,one thing to be wary of is dont always assume the fox is dead after you've shot it,99.9% of time it will be but ive heard of people holding them thinking they were dead and next thing its come round and got hold of their leg Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
Having witness literally hundreds shot a point blank range, i can only remember a couple of riccochet,s, but the master wasn,t a particularly good shot. The mistake folk make with these .22 single shots, is using a standard long rifle cartridge, its way over the top. A .22 short, or ever the little .22 cb cap will do the job , more than adequately. old man 0
I have personaly shot thousands of young/small farm animals with a 22 pistol and have never had a ricochet, very good tool for a quick despatch. Quote Link to post
Guest Scuba1
I think it is a shame and dangerous not to take away the small arms from hunters. I for one would not feel at ease if i where to do a search for a wild bore because of a shot that was not dead on ( excuse the pun ) but I would not feel a lot better if I had to look for the bugger in some shubs with nothing else then a 22 single shot pistol. In fact I´d rather not go and look, because a .22 single shot is not the sort of thing to convince a boar to quit fighting. If I wanted to piss the off big style, that is another story, but I am not brave enough for that ( stupid and old ) My sidearm of choice was a ( not made any more) Colt Python 4 inch barrel in .375 SS because a rifle is no use to point and shoot when you get in the shrubs. Just my 2 cents worth ATB Michael I think, that the goverment should be a bit more lax ( spelling ) what small arms are concerned in the way of hunters that have an FAC Quote Link to post
pockets 0
I got shoot up the arse (a ricochet) by some twit who couldnt place the shot properly with a .22 so be carful! And yes he was in Hunt service. Quote Link to post
