secretagentmole 1,701
Spent a couple of hours down the permission this evening. Now I have been busy in the laurel cushes they have, where the bush grows a natural gap I have bent the odd branch here and there back and cleared out the dead wood, creating some natural hides, from which you can get good shots where the pigeons roost. Well I was in the central hide, waiting for the big flock to land. I had seen evidence of bird of prey strikes on the track down, little circles on the ground, made of grey feathers, impact strike circles made by the bird hitting the pigeon (the Harris Hawk takes it's prey to the ground according to the owner). So obviously the fly by feasting has unnerved the normal residents! There is a gang of 4 pigeons that roost in the same spot. I have usually ignored these preferring to take mine from the big flock. I got interested in the 4 this time, 10 metres up, 25 metres away, I managed to get a clear line of sight through the branches. Gave it one for hold under, and let the pellet fly. There was a resounding thwack and the gang of 4 moved. 3 moved up, 1 moved down. Head shot, hit the deck and lay there. I was pleased with that shot and making sure nothing else was around I ventured out and retrieved the kill. I waited back in the central hide. Nothing flew in and the light was fading, so I skirted the edges of the firs. I got to one of the side roosts and could see 3 birds up the tree, trouble is I was under the roost. I lined up, got a good aim on it and fired, the bird fell behind me. The light was fading fast and the birds were not coming back so I packed up after taking a photo. secretagentmole 1,701
Smells it, simmer 2 cleaned pigeons in pint and a half of water for 90 minutes, water lightly seasoned to taste (hint for better flavour add a bayleaf as well), take meat off bones, thicken half a pint of the water that is left after cooking. Fry up 1/4lb of bacon and add to pigeon meat, add 1/4 lb mushrooms and one finely chopped onion, pour over thickened stock place in a place in a pie dish, cover with shortcrust pastry, cook at 200 degrees c/gas mark 6 for half an hour or until top is nice and golden brown! secretagentmole 1,701
He has started to appreciate it Symon, he has been finishing a Webley Raider 2 shot though, that was taken apart fully fettled and then reassembled! I think the Kub is in for similar treatment, he was a pneumatic engineer for Boeing, so he does know what he is doing! But reports from him filling it up and test firing it were very favourable, I think he likes it! Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
Symon I am sorry to report that the git in Belgium has resold the Kub along with one of the other rifles he said he wanted for his collection. His collection seems to be towards that of Euros, well when you have a currency that has the stability of a blancmange in an earthquake.... We will not be getting any more rifles for this person as we know what the Kub meant to you and what a deal you gave him. The prat can get stuffed in future! Quote Link to post
