PlasticJock 539
I always get the piss taken out of me for saying i believe in god.....but i certainly dont believe in all this f****n nonsense !..........What possible reason is there to think any of its real............but then i guess some would say the same about god......so each to their own. If you try and define 'real' it shifts the focus a bit for me. Skeptics say that most people who witness paranormal events wanted to see something, wanted to believe. An atheist could say the same about those who believe in god. Just my thoughts...

Possibly....i guess some folk see whatever they want to see........if god is of benefit to folk and adds something to their life i cant see a problem with that............pushing a glass across a toy board i cant see any benefit in that but again, each to their own.......
undisputed 1,664
A wee bit of topic but worth mentioning....I'm a sceptic when it comes to this stuff, I've never seen a ghost, or felt a presence or any of that stuff. I went out with a girl many many moons ago and she was f*****g wired strange....she used to talk to me about hearing voices in old buildings and seeing people who had "moved on" all of which I dismissed as bullshit. As I said she was quite highly strung...anyways arranged to meet her one night for a drink and she gets talking about a guy she had spoke to the night before outside a children's home in her area. She tells me this guy knew me and used to lamping with me and out to the pub etc and spoke about some personal shit that only I knew about. Now the creepy thing was he told her to tell me it was time to come clean about what we had found in his brother's loft. (I wont mention the names of the people involved). She even told the name of the person she had been talking to and described him to a T. Now for the freaky bit....the name and description she gave was that of my best mate who had committed suicide 5yrs prior to this. The thing about the loft related to a large sum of money we had found in an old tin in his brother's loft....we never told anyone about it and his brother was strapped for cash at the time and would have cleared his feet if we had gave it to him.....I must admit it freaked me out and I never went back out with her after that.....but the other thing probably worth mentioning was that the children's home had been closed down for a couple of years and my mate had worked there for a number of years. Now you can dismiss this as bullshit and fantasy but it freak me out and maybe there is something to this more things in heaven than in earth thing....f*****g getting goose pimples just remembering this shit! :icon_redface:

I had a similar experience/story - One of our lads was killed in Afghan (blown up). He walked up to a corner of a compound and got hit there and then, died instantly. A lad was in front of him a few metres, but as he was round the corner most of the blast missed him, his jaw was smashed and he was KO'd for a good 20 minutes. I will call this guy ''John''. Now, the parents of the poor bloke who died were obviously informed as soon as, and as is usual the media didn't release his name for a week or so. They decided to go to a medium - not really believers but as I'm sure we can appreciate, at an emotional time like that we look for any explanation/comfort. The medium (who they'd never met before, and wasn't in their town), then proceeded to apologise for their son dying, and told them that it was so quick he didn't realise he was dead. He heard an explosion but was still standing, and saw 'John' (and he gave his real name!!!), on the floor, so went to help him. It was only when he found he couldn't touch him that he realised that he was dead. Now, if anyone can explain that, I'd love to hear it...

MUDD 374
I done it years ago also as a teenager, with a few friends obviously. Strange shit, yet the more I thought about it after, we were all making eachother edgy because we were shit scared that it might work. Picture this !! 6-8. 13-14 yr olds Sat in my granny's garden under a load off trees one evening in mid July. Started doing that shit then within 5 mins a big dark cloud came over us and the heavens opened pure heavy rain and hailstones !!! We all shit ourselves !! Ran down with the board to my house were my dad was always burning old wood out the back as he was a joiner and threw it on the fire to get rid off. The more I look back it was the god damn Irish (summer) weather that scared us more than anything else ! : ))

A touching story there mate but i reckon some lucky peace of info the medium managed to pluck out before the meetimg with the family. There was a guy on the tv a few months back trying to prove its all nonsense. He then done a cold reading on someone, basically throwing general facts at the person and asking enough questions so something will fall in favour or they manage to read a body signal. I used to watch that Colin Fry on sky mate and i 100% believed what he was doing. He done a reading for a guy and said he brought through the guys son who had died a few years back at a very young age. Said his name and said he was holding a pair of football boots to show his Dad. Now to say there was a lump in my throat is an understatement and the boy was in tears. I think what i'm saying if these guys are bringing a little happiness to familys then so be it but i dont beleive in it now....especially after hearing theres a 1 million dollar reward in America for anyone who can prove they can do it and its never been done.......... Nik_B 3,790
Anyone been on one? if so did anything happen or is it all basically B.....ks ... Read a few things about them and heard a good few stories in the link below which got me thinking how genuine it all is .... http://www.squidoo.c...ijastories-ever Yeh something happened to us when we were about 12 or 13. Some tw*t threw a stone at the window while we were doing it and everyone sh*t themselves and ran out of the house LOL Don't believe in them though
rob190364 2,594
Like I said before, I'd have to see to believe. What I would say though, in general we as a human race do not understand everything that takes place, that's fact. If someone thinks that we do then they're sadly deluded about how intellegent and advanced we actually are! So just because humans don't understand something or generally believe in something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist or doesn't occur.
PlasticJock 539
@ Lab - Yes I see what you mean. The medium was recommended by a family friend so they could have told him their son had died.. The thing I can't explain is that he named the injured guy, whose name wasn't known by the family, or anyone in the UK at the time (apart from his family). I've watched documentaries about the techniques they use and it seems quite easy to fool someone. If you ever get a chance, read Carlton Leach's autobiography. He was the main guy in the 'Essex Boys' film/gang. At the beginning of the book, he says that he was in bits about Tony Tucker his best mate dying, so went to a psychic even though he didn't believe in all that. The psychic then told him things that were only known to those two, and beating in mind these guys were drug traffickers they never mentioned half of it to another soul! I think most mediums aren't what they say / think they are, but there are some strange cases that no one can explain...

Not being disrespectful towards your friend or his poor family but it makes me cringe to read stories like that where a family in total despair get taken advantage of. Maybe it gave them peace and I suppose there could be something to it but I don't trust mediums, they do seem to target some very vulnerable people. On the other hand if I lost one of my daughters I suppose I would be willing to believe anything so I can see why people would visit those places.

It makes me cringe to watch videos of emotionally distressed people getting taking advantage of by these people, but as I said, there's absolutely no way that the guy named an injured person, 3000 miles away, a matter of days after it happened. He also described the corner where it happened. As I said, if someone can offer an explanation I'd love to hear it... When I hear these stories I pick them to pieces before I give them any thought, but as I said whether it truly is paranormal or just unexplained, these things do happen. We all know people can be susceptible to suggestion at times like this, I think that works both ways i.e. no matter what's said, there will be those that refuse to ask questions and try and understand something they don't want to exist, as they don't like the feeling that they don't understand something

I bet someone'll be saying they've seen a ghost next!! :whistling: they should try some of these things on a few select THL members.....their minds aren't powerful enough to create a sensible thought let alone a figure or communication from the darkside, so if it works on them it must be true!!!
