mickmck 716
i got pulled over on the a19 , copper on a bike pulled us and the vosa went over the van , so the little fat fella from vosa says one of your back tyres is worn to its limit , now he says if the police do you it will be a fine and points. if i do you all you gotta do is replace the tyre and take it to test station so they can vairify that tyre has been changed. so i say ok you do us then , he walked right passed the crack in the windscreen!! so i get the tyre done and take it to the test station to get the form signed , and the fella in the test station says no mate you gotta get the van re tested . so the vosa man was full of shit , a new mot cause of a bald tyre !!! [bANNED TEXT] the f**k is all that about , the best part is the tyre wasnt that bad Edited February 29, 2012 by mickmck
Chid 6,449
A plg (car ect) tyre as to have at least 1.6mm of tread and a commercial vehicle as to have at least 1mm tread . Some people will try and say it's 3mm it's not this is just an advisable limit when to change the tyre..
events co-ordinator 353
Its at the discretion of the Mot station whether to retest or not so the guy was trying to give you a break if you went to your local garage that did the work on your car and mot'd it for you they would have just checked the tyre and passed it. The same goes for the 21 day rectification slip the police give you if the garage does'nt know you they will take full mot cost.

trooperman 73
I didn't think VOSA had police powers, it takes an act of parliment to be granted police powers and when they sanctioned parliment to get the powers they needed, the home secretary wouldn't grant powers. paul
