Guest Ditch_Shitter
Hullo, mate. Ye got lucky here; Someone sent me to this Thread. I haven't time, these days, to read so much of the forum and I Never read the New Member stuff anyway ~ enough people appear and then vanish. I wait to see what they post elsewhere Anyway, .243? No way! Not on my ground, mate! Christ almighty, apart from the fact that my first shot would have half of Leitrim clutching their chests and a very nervous Gard waiting by my gate when I got back, the terrain's eminantly unsuited to such high fire power. No. We have hidden lanes and far too many cottages dotted about here. Not to mention cattle. I must admit, I did rather fancy maybe a .223 or .224. Someone I trust swears by those for popping Charlie. But, again, with the land I'm allowed over, I really do think the Hornet will be plenty gun enough for my job. I'm a Pest Controller, after all. Not a Deer Stalker or even Olympic Marksman. If I can see it, my rifle should stop it. 600 yards? In the dead of night? I can't even see that far! Let alone discern between a fox and someone walking their Dog down a track! No, 'A man;s got to know his limitations'. I'm very happy that they've allowed me what I have. I'm not out to take libertys or go for more fire power 'just because'. Quite frankly; It's just another tool to get another job done. I get no 'Buzz' out of it. Humping a man killer on my shoulder wouldn't excite me either. It's just make me scared to death of ever taking that shot! In case. Anyway; Always nice to chat to people in Eire, especially those who know the craich. I'll look foreward to seeing what ye come up with in future

I'll look foreward to seeing what ye come up with in future Thanks guys for the welcome the guys up in the sticks here would have nothing less than .243 for saying hello to old charlie with. but i take on what your saying, i've never shot at ol charlie at 5 or 6 hundred, but i've wipped out a few at around four to four 30, yards and as for the noise i've got a moderator on.... the nice lads at stations near us say da .223 is a military round, and no way can we get a fac, near da border.. but i know a few who have one and yes i'm goin to say it "it's the dogs bollocks" i'm happy with the .243 as it does both the job of deer rifle, and pest control. but i'd never take a chancy shot i look at my backstop, range and surroundings. then and only then will i attempt to drop the fecker!!!!! i've fallen in with a few lads who own a few nice acres. with nothing but hill as a back stop. i've taken them under my wing as they lost a lot of livesock to charlie an i've taken 16 dog foxes of their farm in 4 weeks.. no bull.. anyway on the rifle subject. she'll do you proud, get a set of harris bipods on her an you'll be flying. try an put the best scope you can afford on. an the world is your oyster!!! practice out to 200 an know your bullet drop.. then come october you'll piss yourself with excitment  hope this reachs ya as i'm not exactly sure how the site works, an were you really on the web at 2:45am. you workin the night shift? thanks for the welcome... an to seanthehawker cheers. your a good one but i never trust a bird see ya all later. peace
