chris1wg 24
dont really get wha it means iv seen a nice second hand gun with fixed chokes should i avoid and go with multi chokes ect ???? Quote Link to post
Nik_B 3,790
I dont bother changing my chokes. a) I'm not that good that it should matter and b ) I forget which is which. Still it would be nice to have that versatility so if you're getting a new gun or have the choice of one with and one without I would probably go for the multi choke because I imagine it's easier to sell them and later down the line you might find a situation where a certain choke set up is idea for what you are shooting. This all depends on what you use the gun for and how good you are. Not being an ass...do you know what chokes are? Just you said "Not sure what it means" Quote Link to post

chris1wg 24
ye i now what they are you ajust them for the spread ect just meant to ask are they really needed most of my shooting is just rough shooting really Quote Link to post
Simonrees 45
Hi Chris, don't get too concerned about multi choke guns, If your main focus is rough shooting then you'll find that the standard 1/4 and 1/2 chokes are just the job. You can modify your pattern and spread with careful cartridge choice rather than mess around with chokes. I have a Multi Choke 20 Gauge Hatsan escort and I don't think I've changed from half choke ever since I've had it. Unless your doing a lot of different shooting disciplines, then in my opinion Multi Choke is a bit of a sales gimmick. 1 Quote Link to post

Nik_B 3,790
Righto mate sorry just wasn't 100% sure. I've never ever changed my chokes and can't even remember which ones they are. The way I see it is if I miss then it probably wouldn't have mattered what I'd been using. The clay ground I go to has all these competition types there who change their chokes on each stand...not my bag at all. ATB Quote Link to post
