BenjaminCadd 109
Right i have always worked ferrets without collars i no some will take a pop shot, but i have been lucky never to loose a ferret but latley with there being young nearly all year round in the warren my luck will run out and ill look stupid! So i am looking to buy a locator and two collars maybe 3, i have heard both sides about weather the old knocker box is best or the new Mk3m, but what would you recomend? How easy is it to get the old ones repaired? Are they more simple to use? I work farm hedgerows mostly so i rarely work any warrens over 40 holes, if that helps or makes one locator better than the other? Cheers for The help. Ben. Quote Link to post
charlie nelly1 142
tbh in my own opinion I fell they both can be as good as each other, and the mk1 can be repaired by mick dadd and afew others, however it may be easier to get the new mk3 to ensure an easy fixing, also the mk1 are fetching a high price at the moment, nearkly as high as the mk3, hope this helps Quote Link to post
jambay5 191
mk1 all the way mate Quote Link to post
patterdalejoel 669
if you go for a mk3, go for a new one straght from deben as they will be under warranty and can get repaired by deben, if you buy one second hand and have no warranty they wont touch it, a mk1 can be fixed by plenty of people offering services, mk1 Quote Link to post
darbo 4,776
i do like the mk1 but it was not without its faults ie thumbwheel prone to break/come loose. depth stickers come off. not waterproof.some could complain about the colour grey ie not noticeable when put on the ground . The one 8,494
You can get new collars for a mk1 and they can be serviced every year but spare parts are running out so there on a limited life . With a mk3 or 3m your going to be getting a newer model and buying new a guarantee Quote Link to post
