Seperate Jills

Recommended Posts

Spent an enjoyable few hours down the old alehouse yesterday nattering with an old fellow who as been ferreting for about 40 years. :drink: We started talking about my Jill’s have been covered by my hob and that I’m expecting a few litters in the next week or so.

The conversation turned to courts, he being the ripe-old-old of 82 was in favour of small rabbit hutch style,(easier to clean) I told him I have a 8’ x 4’ x 3’ communal court with 4 living quarters attached for 8 jills.

He informed me that I should separate the Jills before they had their litters, as there would be problems. I told him that I had had this arrangement for 3 years and produced a number of litters without any real problems, he said I was very lucky. ! :hmm:

Is there something I should know, am I doing something wrong, or is my old friend mistaken. :icon_redface:

I dont pretend to be an expert, but what i have been told is that,

some jills will eat others kits, if kept in close quarters / jelousy.

As they have been housed together for a few years you should be fine, but theres always a chance of the inevitable.

If i have a litter i plan to house my 2 jills together as they have lived together since berth, so they should be ok together at birth.
