stevethefish 80
As I wrote in a thread a couple of weeks ago, we lost a ferret while doing a res near my home. We searched for hours and I went back 2 days on the trot afterwards looking for ages. Unfortunately there was no sign, so we classed it as lost. It was possible that it could turn up on the field behind my house at some time, it's only 2 fields away. Alas I got a call from my next door neighbour telling me he had found it while walking the dog. It had tried to cross the road towards the field at the bottom of my garden but was hit by a car by the looks of things. On examination the collar had gone, it may have snagged it and pulled it off unless someone had seen it and removed it. It also had some puncture marks on its neck as if it had been scrapping with a stoat at some point. A sad way to loose a good ferret, but that's always the risk when ferreting heavy cover.
