Dan_Mercian 27
Hello, time to pick your brains again, Ive managed to get hold of a few clay traps off of a friend for cheap, but before I start shooting clays on my land I want to know where I stand with regards to shot falling on other peoples land?? I remember fly fishing once as a child and every so often hearing a shot and then a few seconds later the scattering of shot hitting the water and rippling the surface, my dad decided it was too dangerous to fish there and we left...anyway im side tracking. Here in this photo is the boundaries of my permission: Here in this photo is directional arrows in which it is possible to shoot in: Let me explain the colours and my reasoning: Ideally id like to shoot in the direction of yellow, because that way your shooting away from the direction in which the owner of the land would approach (i.e. the person approaching would be approaching from behind the shooter) but with yellow the shot once cleared of the woods (if it would actually clear the woods, im pretty doubtful it would, it would land in a field which has horses in, I dont want to land any stray shot on these horses and spook them. Blue is another option but again the shot could land on the road and if that happened it wouldn't be a good scenario to be in, so Im writing blue off. Orange then is my only other option and possibly my best option reg stray shot because theres nothing that it could come into contact with apart from field. Do you think its possible to clay shoot off of here or not?? (Theres a lorry in the first pic for size ref) Thanks for taking time to read Quote Link to post

Dan_Mercian 27
Cheers Chris! Thats cleared that up then, Id say its probably best to not shoot clays on it. 1 Quote Link to post
tegater 789
The general guideline is that shot from a shotgun will travel about 300 metres, if that is any help. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Don't quote me on this figure...but I seem to recall a series of tests being conducted a few years back and your usual No.7 1/2 clay shot in a "normal" velocity shell of say 1350fps will travel 207 yards when fired horizontally. I can't be exact of the figure, but it was 200 and something yards, almost certain 207. As stated, shot should not fall from the land you are shooting onto land where you have no permission.
