old dog

just thought id put this up. i have a fell bull russel cross well not exactly sure whats in him. got this dog when he was about 2 yr and got him going he is now about 10 and has worked very well, a proper one hole dig almost all the time. he is starting to slow down now and has about one tooth left and is practically blind but was out the other week and he went into a rock pile and still works no problem a bit slower but does the job. now would you use this dog to breed or would you not, i havent as i consider this dog a once of and keep my other terriers to their line. this dog has been dug to around 300 times.

mate imo a line is all about working so if he had 300 digs and u say he is a dug to in one pit why not

its all about breeding quailty and if you have a bitch up to his standard why not there is so many lads breeding rubbish we need more good dogs out there and you know what your digging to when the pups are up and running

problem is i think this dog is a once of and i dont no anything about the parents of the dog or any of the other dogs from the litter. this is were i think lads go wrong, as it wouldnt be in the blood. will try get the pics up.

sometimes even dogs with the best blood lines dont work, if your dog works well it is probably worth the gamble. After all it is a gamble every time you breed whatever the blood lines. You cant guarantee a worker form every pup just do the best worker to worker.
