Salmon spinning reel

Need to get a new reel for season any ideas!!!!!Been using shimano baitrunner 6000RA which is excellent reel but to heavy

hi mate i always used shimano reels for my salmon fishing until last year i started using the okuma trio fd reel its nice and light comes in a few sizes and most importamt the drag is excellent had loads of salmon with mine last year

I've had a few Okumas but never had one that's lasted more than 2 seasons, the quality just isn't there. Same with Shakespear spinning reels, they just don't last.

 

Plenty of different sized Shimano reels out there, find one that suits you and you should get years of use out of it, my present one is more than ten years old and still going strong.

Been fishin with mitchell 300xe's this past couple a seasons and i love them. Nice and light, instant anti reverse, real smoth and great value for money. Id recomend them to anyone.ATB Mark

Fished with the Abu Garcia cardinal 103fr freeliner reel done me well and you can pick them up for £30.

i use michell 300xe aswell for my lure and spinner fishing, nice and light with plenty of grunt when needed.

I think a Shimano in the 4000 size is about right, i have twinpower xtr and stradic fg both great reels.
