armchair _hunter 5
just getting my 18mnth old staff finally switched on to game being in cover, the problem though is when we get home she'll be aggitated around the house, constantly flicking her feet about and occasionally chewing them, i check for thorns etc but there doesnt appear to be any but the skin between the pads looks pink/tender, am i missing thorns? or are her feet still just not thick enough/something that hardens up over time? any tips to reduce her discomfort or harden her feet up? thanks
jetro 5,349
is there any young nettles in the cover. that could be the cause of her dis convert. or maybe her pads needs to toughen up a bit more. atb,j.
stabba 10,745
Plenty of road work to toughen the pads up beforehand...you should then see a reduction in the chewing/licking of the feet..if not then give the dog half a piriton allergy tablet when you get home..this should help the dog out immensley..atb stabba

kanny 20,611
could be young nettles but i would say dead thistles. kanny
Westy76 546
as said before nettles probably maybe a bit of surgical spirit on the pads to harden them up along with road work may help? although ive heard some staffs just do this for no reason and go mad chewing there feet for no reason
