Col_c88 41
you should always have a spare place to put your ferret.. if one gets a disease or something it could pass it on and clear out your lot..... not excuse for not knocking up a quick temparary hutch mate.. Quote Link to post

The one 8,514
about the last week she would be due she will double in size and the hairs will fall out round her nipples its a gamble you have to wait six weeks to find out the result Quote Link to post
loveferreting 2
will my other jills eat eachothers kits if there all together Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
You should have had a spare hutch for the Hob, and kept him seperate for six weeks, then you should have put him with the jills for three days, then if he was being rough with them, you put him back on his own, till your jills come out of season. Regarding ferrets eating young, some will and some wont, but what was the point on paying for a vasectomy, and putting jills through having young, just in the hope they will be eating, im sure you could have picked up a rabbit hutch cheap. Fully agree imagine the stress a jill will be under trying to protect her kitts and the possible injuries caused by fighting get another cage mate and take the hob out Quote Link to post
The one 8,514
'loveferreting' timestamp='1330166933' post='2508846'] will my other jills eat eachothers kits if there all together It all depends on the harmony with in the group . i had four jills all sisters and three gave birth then the fourth one a couple of weeks later you could really see the difference in the kits as they grew but they where fine . Not something i like to do the most i like to have together now is two if there having kits Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
If you have your hob done, put him with one jill to see if the OP has worked before you put him to your others, or spend the rest of the summer gathering rabbits to feed herds of kits 1 Quote Link to post

David K 172
stealthy1 i fone my et up last week and she said she has done alot for ferret rescue centers and said they have always been fine so I think ferret rescue would be wanting to fully castrate/neuter rather than request a vasectomy.
