i have a young dog 9mths old deerhound grayhound he is coating very badly and has a bald patch on the same spot on both legs below the tigh any ideas of the cause i have wsahed and washed him in sheep dip put stong hold drops and changed his feeding still not looking any better his skin looks fine and pink no redness :cry:

some times with all this heat the dogs tend to

sleep out side the kennel on concerete where

the dienfectant can irratate.

having the same problem after washing with every thing just to be on the

safe side.

you could be spot on there i see him lying out in his kennel i ll put down a cow mat and see will that sort it thanks

Little bit of info.

 

I know a lad who shows masstaff(spelling), this guy has some of the best dogs in Ireland, I was at his kennels some time ago and he has rubber mats for the dogs to lay down on, he finds the spot where the dogs dont spoil and that where the mats go, might help, but then again I could be talking bollix. :laugh:

I know a lad who shows masstaff(spelling), this guy has some of the best dogs in Ireland, I was at his kennels some time ago and he has rubber mats for the dogs to lay down on, he finds the spot where the dogs dont spoil and that where the mats go, might help, but then again I could be talking bollix. :laugh:

up date took pup to the vets turns out he was having a reaction to b12 tonic which was high in protien and when he was geting chicken and rice it was over loading his system causing the hair loss

fair play to you always worth bringing dogs to the vet

just to make sure .

mate had the same problem with his

russel and had been getting an itch every summer

was in his mother too we tought it was the breeding but

after going to the vet it turned out to be an intolerance to protien

and he changed his food and never had a problem with his coat again.

think them rubber mats a great for this time of year too.

ya his feeding is back to pasta spuds rice and beef and tripe i bought 8 cow mats today i ll put them in the kennels to make sure thank you macker for your reply
