Nathan Baker 1 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Share Posted February 24, 2012 hello i am new to this so hear me out, do you cross a greyhound dog, with a collie bitch to make them more sleak like a lurcher, skinny fast ect. ? or is it the other way around, or does it not matter ,, i never really understood how to get the perfect looking cross, i prefer the more greyhound look. thanks ! Hi mate, regards the above, they say it makes no differnce because the genes will be 4/8s both sides . But alot of people have told me that,if the bitch is the base line (collie,bull,etc .....) and greyhound sire . As the bitch genes are more (dominant), you still get a racey pup but it should keep alot more of the collie traits. Quote Link to post

However, I've heard of several people who've found the height of the resulting litter being governed by the bitch ie non-greyhound dam producing smaller pups. The other thing to consider, and more important in my opinion, is that the pups will be raised, though only for a few weeks, by the dam so her temperament will have an impact on them too. By this I mean a nurture impact in addition to the nature impact of both sire and dam. Does that make sense? Quote Link to post
