DEADHORSEANDDONKEYDEALER 275
http://www.countryside-alliance.org.uk/ca/campaigns-hunting/hunting-under-the-act-photo-competition-launched Photo comp on the CA website Would like to know whats the general feeling to the statement at the end. "Copyright of images passes to the Countryside Alliance" Is this the norm if you decide to enter a photo competition ?
tegater 789
Copyright stays with the photographer unless you sign away the rights. I doubt the CA would take ownership of the copyright but by entering photos, you are agreeing that they may use them in anyway they see fit. The same as anybody that sends pics to sky news for example about a current news thread. If you don't agree with it don't send them in.
DEADHORSEANDDONKEYDEALER 275
So it would seem by entering the comp you are signing away your rights ? As you pointed out " i dont agree" maybe its just me, but it would be nice to get 1000s of hunting photos copyright free
tegater 789
It's bollocks mate but I would imagine they can only use those that are directly involved in the comp. i.e. those that they display and use in the final stages. As I said before and I think I am right, the photographer retains copyright under usual circs. It is as if you are giving them a print release form.
chook1 184
All's it means is they have rights to use the photo when ever they wish, there would be a possibility that they would have rights to complain if you allow anyone else to use the photo. you would be credited every time they use the photo though. Personally if it was me i wouldn't enter - as once you allow them rights to use the photo there's nothing you can do to ever stop them using it for what ever they wish. Kay 3,709
Looks like any images they receive will be used in there literature or on line publications, they ask for a min of 3 to 4 meg images, pretty big , so they are imo going to use your images , i guess if your fussy about how there used in the future then dont enter
ghillies 209
theyre also 'owning' liability for when they use them....but all the comps i've looked at offer the same deal. (as in yes, thousands of free photo's). but, if you win, your names acredited, so it'll get about.. sort of advertising to many.
