What tranceiver for B&F collar?

Hi,

looking to get some opinions on box and collar set up, I snowboard and have a use for a Avalanche tranciever aswell so that rules out the B&F box due to limited functions and size. I am off to France in a few weeks boarding and am looking to get a tranciever then.

 

The Pieps DSP and Barryvox Pulse seem to be the most regular choice, has anyone used the ortovox S3 or the Barryvox element £100 less than the pulse but it seems to have the same simple functions of the pulse but not the advanced. Does anyony use the advanced settings or is it all done on simple settings? or opinions of any other type of tranciever thatyou use?

 

Price wise the DSP and pulse are about the same and reading older posts the pulse seems to be the better choice, the DSP box might be cheaper soon as Pieps are bringing out a new box here later this year (think it may be out in Canada & US) just looking to see what others may recommend.

Get the Barryvox pulse, does both jobs, just for good measure the B&F box is made by Pieps and will do both as well

Is that the new big red B&F box? i know they were selling the Pieps DSP box running V6.2 software (New DSP uses 8.2) with collar but are currently out of stock.

i just sold my element , and brough a patroller i already use my D3 for 5 years or so and used the peips pulse in between it and am the most happy whit my ortovox stuff ,,exept there collars they sux for that i use a bF& collar

Nope the previous yellow box is made by peips, couldn't tell you what version of the firmware it runs just know that it sends (as worn when on the piste)

and searches (lets hope you don't have to use that one !)

The new version of the B&F has had problems shutting down, Two different people I know have had to send them back and have been told its a 6 week turnaround

I just sold an Opto 3000 on fleabay and that did the job but was a little slower than the newer types

Why did you sell the barryvox element Erik ? was it not up to the job ?

not on the big set's we do ,we cant hear the dog stard to bay so if we enter a dog we turn the locator on so that we can see when the dog stay on the same spot

the element was not up to that , the pulse i had was better ((lost it somewhere in the woods)) but a D3/Patroller is half the price

Thanks Erik, I am looking for another locater and have left the ortovox alone as they seemed a little flimsy, looks like a pulse for me then, thanks again

Thanks for the sugestions Eric, was swaying towards a pulse as it is also a very good avalanche tranciever but seen the element was £100 cheaper and thought i would ask what others are using.
