Good shot ..look at he break infront of the eye on the beak..they must take some hard impact on the water.. :icon_eek:

 

Cheers matie, and NO nostrils on the beak either..All gannets have beaks like that

I know about Ganet's and the nostril thingy just wondering about that bad break in the beak and how he/she survive's in the wild..

Ive photgraphed hndreds of Norther gannets, its not a break in the beak, they are designed that way

 

This ones a she..check out the nesting material..got a photo of one flying in with a blue plastic bag for her nest, they will use anything, they use sticks and things to mark their territory,

Where was that taken Romany its excellent. I have managed a few flying shots of these fantastic birds at Ardnamurchan but never that close.

 

It was the Bass Rock matie..

 

Been diving there,, bloody birds scare the shit oot yeh ! haha along wi the seals !!

...did you get any seal shots Romany? Seen a few off shore up here in Argyll, nothing close enough for a picture though.

 

Got a few pics matie, but like you say its mot always easy to get close to them..
