At the end of the day col obviously looks after his animals and is doing his best by it and just wanted some opinions. Shame these threads have too turn into mass augments and get spoiled

Grea idea ^^^, NOT. "knocking an animal on the head" when you're guesing whats wrong with it and could be easily fixed :censored:

Another example of the pricks who treat ferrets as "disposeable" pets. Dont deserve animals. :censored:

It's not a case of that, some of us can put our feelings aside and act in the best interests of our animals..

It's good to see all the trained thl vets giving a diagnosis and advice without seeing the animal in the flesh ,?????????

Here we go again. What's wrong with members giving their experiences of ill ferrets? As far as I am aware, no-one has made a diagnosis, just offered their opinions based on their own experiences as the OP requested...

Firstly, I feel for your kids if you hold them in the same sort of regards as you do your ferrets, :icon_eek: and secondly, do you not ever think to seek the advise of more experienced family members before you rush your kids off to the doctor for every minor aliment? :hmm:

I refuse to be drawn in, the ferret was alegrdley all bones ????? Doesn't sound minor to me ,??? Yes money's tight and yes a ferrets allegedly only worth a fiver up north anyway , but I wouldn't hesitate if it had been in that state for a day as we all know ferrets go down hill fast , oh I dont actually have any kids : ) not that I know of any how , was just using it as a for instance lol , oh and if I did I would hold the ferrets in the same regards as the children not the other way round , all life is equal man peace n love ,

any ferret/dog etc will ever be.

If or when you watch your child enter into this world it you might change your mind but maybe not.

thanks to all the lads who wernt tools.. if you had read you would of known i was at hostpital yesterday.. nothing to do with money at all i dont care how much something costs when it comes to either my dogs or my ferrets.. its a resposibilty i knew i wanted! I only came here to ask the question because A)theres alot of clever lads on here whos helped me out a great deal and B)couldnt get to vet yesterday

now.. ive had it to the vet today (because yesterday i was at hostpital smart arses) and he couldnt get any blood from its ears or its pads of its feet.. but he has gave some really high protein tin of food wich he said should pick it up... as he is pretty sure its some problem thats the opposite of diabetes ... basicly the ferret is making too much insulin.. hence.. he picked up yesterday when fed and drink but went back down hill after a little while..

so im going to see how he goes and if he doesnt come back to the ferret he used to be ill be retiring him ... theres a friend of a friend who has pet ferrets. he will take him off me and give him a good home (full shed opened up to ferrets).

thanks :)

Glad hes perked up mate. I agree malt you have got to put your feelings aside for the animal. But some things are easily fixed.

Whats point putting down a ferret that could be perfectly healthy with a shot of antib's.

People choose to have animals and when times get hard and they cant be arsed with the effort/money involved.

And no before anyone starts I wouldnt keep a ferret alive for my sake or put it through stuff that would be unfair/stressfull. YOU only know YOUR animals.

Tallyho i was just saying what i thought just like you did, is that not allowed! Im probably more than half your age, you're acting like a kid mate.

update for teh lads who took the time to give me advice before i could get to vets..

had to get up early this morning so made a point of going out to check on him.. he literally dragged himself out his bedding so i put him in a cat box with plenty of blanket and brought him inside.. syringe fed him the stuff the vet gave me .. he took it quit happily but couldnt get it without the syringe. also made sure i saw him get some water before i had to go to the hostpital again for botox in me calf (god damn thats painful!!)... coming back i see him asleep in the box (didnt know ferrets snored o.0) so left him at it while i done some research on what i could do.... syringe fed him some more.. he stressed cos his normal poo area wasnt there.. his poo looked a bit runnier than normal but not enough to cause alarm.

the only thing ive been able to find that describes how he is, is also what the vet thought.. Insulinoma.. which confuses me since i give them meat almost exclusivly unless im totally out. anyways i did the honey on the gums thing and he wasnt overly bothered.. ive put him back in the hutch cos' he really stressed about where to go to the toilet.. he was dooking when i put him in as was his brother...he dragged himself around until he dragged himself to bed... not nice to see him fall over.. almost like hes drunk...

im thinking the worst for him to be honest but i really like to try (like i did with the stray i took in) to nurse them back.. will be back in the shed in 2 hours to check on him maybe give him some more food

shame.. him and his brother are the first 2 ferrets i got and weve all learned together... i have to admit.. im going to be very sad :(

another update.. went back in to check on the ferret and his heart beat was super slow and he couldnt budge... took him to the vet (even though i cant walk!!) to stop his suffering.. vet said theres no chance of a ferret springing back to life from being as in a bad way as he was... worst thing about it.. there was no vet nurse there so i had to bloody help the vet find the vein and what not... first time ive seen an animal PTS ..

anyways for the best... down a bloody good working ferret but his brother is pretty good and got two younguns im bringing on too.

thanks again guys ;/
