Guest vin
Hello all I was working last night , But managed a few hours kip and got up nice and early. I picked my old mate's son Brad up and we were on the rd at 7am. I headed out again today towards the coast up near Scarborough. We drove off the main roads and asked about for some permission but got the usual blanks, After a while I decided to park up and try our luck at a cheeky little spot near some railway lines at the side of a farm. As we started having a good look at the banking next to the outbuildings of the farm,we decided to net up and have a go..we put down a total of 63 nets all the way up the little banking,But there was still a lot of holes uncovered,It was a huge set just running all the way up the bank. so we just dropped my 2 jills in at the bottom end and waited....They worked it well gradually moving slowly up the banking, then the bunnies started popping out in a nice steady flow. we had 5 or 6 out and then they went quiet for a while..we found 1 of em on top of a bunny and got them both out..While we were waiting for the last ferret the dog jumped up and darted across the hedge and out into the field ! she had spotted a rabbit coming out of the hedge ,,It looked like it had nowhere to go until it popped down a hole about 50 yards from hedges...I went to investigate and found a nice little 6 hole set in the middle of the field..(Now thats luxury ). The sort of sets you dream of doing ! i netted up and dropped a fert in and in about 2 mins out popped a bunny..the dog was marking more holes further into the field so we walked around and had a few more bunnies out of these Luxury easy sets.. The dog was marking the hawthorn hedge and it was obvious there was activity in the set...se we popped the nets on..This one was bigger and we used about 30 nets..We had a great under foot battle with this one who had no intention of bolting..But we did manage to easily dig out, so far we had not done badly So we headed back to the van...on the way back we came across a good loooking large burrow and decided to make it the last one of the day..it was quite close to railway line also so i didnt want to hang around for long. We put 3 ferrets in They all did very well knocking 4 rabbits out of un netted holes..We then ended up digging down to the last ferret remaining in the burrow. We had a great bit of sport for a good few hours,And ended on a tally of 12. On the way Home we called off at a caravan place and got some permission to go back and have a go at the rabbits. So for me a great day. . Quote Link to post

Guest vin
well done pal sounds like you had a good day and some easy sets is a bonus i wish i had them where i live instead of the ones in the black thorn and brambles atb pal Ive been in them brambles and blackthorns most of this season..i got nettled badly yesterday...lol..yes im a whimp. But them sets yesterday were just so easy out in the field with no cover or depth..at one point i broke through to the ferret with my hands it was that close and easy to break through the mixture of quite sandy soil,I literally parted the soil with my hands and broke through to the tunnel..Some of the easiest action i have ever had. The section of hawthorn in the background of the picture was just one long set of holes all the way down...but these sets in the field were just so much easier..lol. Quote Link to post
