The Duncan 802
Hi guys n gals, I'm looking at a new bike and pretty settled on either a Triumph Tiger 1050 or Tiger Adventure 1215, subject to back to back testride. But as its a large investment (or in truth splurge of lots of hard-earned cash) I'm curious as to what any bikers on here would get if they had a budget of £11k max (happier if less) to blow on a new bike. Thanks all Duncan
Baghdadnights 150
Have you had a look at the ktm adventure range I've had quite a few ktm's from Dakar style through to supermotos great bikes and a couple of triumph tigers. Depends what your gonna use it for if it's continental mile munching think the trumps have the edge if it's A and B road scratching the ktm's for me Did try BMW 1100 gs but couldn't stand the torque steering on and of the gas These are just my views best bet is gonna be ride and see what you think Atb Kev
The Duncan 802
Thanks Kev - hadn't thought of KTM. Already ridden the trumpet triples bar the new one due out next month hence the leaning towards a tiger 1050 - really comfy and good a=on the back and very flickable. Good useable spread of power too. Are the KTM's twins? Cheers Duncan
Baghdadnights 150
The 990 ktm is a v twin I think there less than 10 grand new or they were I've not really kept up with the new stuff

Rake aboot 4,936
Yam super ten for me I have the 660 and love it, so if I went mahoosive trailie it would be the Yam. The GS is 1/4 ton empty KTM are too rough and ready (been there) Never liked Triumphs really, but they might be good. Super ten gets it for my cash ATB
Westy76 546
Victory for me
Mooching Celt 659
KTM stands for "Keep Tightening Me" If the bigger bikes are the same as the dirtbikes then by the time you've done a few hours riding it'll have bits dropping off left right and centre Trumpets all the way for me
Rake aboot 4,936
KTM are fantastic bikes Just sold a 640 supermoto, It only ever got thrashed and in 7 years it neaded NOTHING, nada nowt, only tyres evry 100 miles or so. Nothing slackened of, fell off. rattled Brilliantbuild quality, second to none, They are just not comfy long distance, they are race bred bikes and show it. The Duncan 802
Purpose will be 28 mile roundtrip commute, in comfort and with good visibility, sunday blatts although I'm not a mad rider any more and the odd weekend away, a few hundred miles away. I liked the Tiger for its flexible engine and the ability to sit at 100 ish in comfort - great screen. Fast enough (especially with a sportier can and remap) to be fun, and most importantly, fabulously good for my back. I'm done crouching over missile type racereps. Thanks so much for the input guys

The Duncan 802
I was thinking black - perhaps I'm a bit old for vivid orange FJR is a shaftee isn't it? I'll have to have a look/ride. Another thing I liked about the 1050 Tiger was despite it's size, it was actually quite flickable. Compared to my X11 anyway. Long dogs, I used to have a lot of fun on DT125R and then a string of tuned MZ's (raced em too for a while), but if I got on one now it would be a disappointment after a lot of massively better bikes I've had in the intervening years. I did read of a couple of guys going round the world on C90's or plastic chickens as we used to call em
