bit of advice needed please

hey guys i've just bought a broken coat jack russell for my son to start coming out with us he's 8 mths old and he is already bushing marking chasing digging etc but the problem is he won't do it for me and the son, i've had him for 5 days now and he's a great listener he comes when called etc but when we took him yesterday he would only go in the bush about 2 foot and he would come back out he was checking holes but just wouldn't go through the bushes the only thing i can think of is a trust issue at the moment or he was worked with other dogs and he was looking for other dogs before he would go in any advice would be great cheers guys i will try and get some pics later now if the weather breaks lol

At 8 months he is still young and still settling in with you perhaps he just needs time to regain some confidence with you and himself.

yes have seen him on video footage on a hole on my mates phone and he was doing the bis lol so i know he was going before i bought him thats why i was asking about the trust thing and cheers for coming back to me guys

can you get your hands on a live wild rabbit ? if so then get you son to hold the dog the let him see you with the rabbit and let the dog go at the rabbit but be for he gets to you let the run in to the bush . you mite have to do this a time or two but it worked for me with my lads patterdale terrier good huntting

just keep taking the dog out mate and it will all come together,perhaps theres no scent about thats why its not entering cover try not to over excite the dog by constantly giving it commands to enter cover,let the dog work and learn at its own pace, you have only had it a couple of days things will get better

if the pup woz doin it already then it will do it again keep gettin it out bond wit it be4 u no it wil be flyn dont expect to much at such a young age atb with it

yeah i know he needs to build up trust with me he's been out now 3 times with me and the last time he did start showing a bit more and at the end he did actually start bushing aswell so happy days now lol now lets see how much he can shine from here
