Millet 4,497
Don't know why i titled it like that but do you think the family pet's you have had as a child have a influence on your hunting dog's you have now. Im sat thinking and the pet's we have had from a child to school leaving day's what i can remeber are ..penny/a whippet....judy/a staffie ..sally /a collie x's..brandy/ a border x lakie..whisky a yorkie....all but one where of coarse working breed's that surely will of set the seed for me..niether of my parent's hunt by the way.. For instance say i was brought up around poodle's/pug's and other none working pet pedigree breed's ..would i still have this kind of yearn to seeing a dog work.. :hmm:

Moll. 1,770
I wasn't allowed a dog as a kid. When i was really young our house backed onto the woods and river, spent all of my time playing there as a kid with my imaginary companions.....a greyhound and a badger So perhaps your imaginary friends can also define the rest of your life

steve123 29
hunting is in the blood ,its just a natural thing,,you get triggers in life which encourage you to follow your heart, we just have to, seeing a dog run , a hawk fly at quarry, its the meaning of life
The Duncan 802
I was always outdoors as a kid, in the fields, woods, streams and always had a dog, for all we didn't hunt. Used to make bows and arrows out of garden canes and nobody took anyones eye out lol! So as an adult, I'm almost always outdoors, in the fields and woods, usually with a gun or rifle and often with dog (s). Parents were never into field sports though. RubyTex 1,957
Always outdoors as a kid, carried it on to adulthood exploring new places etc. When younger we had a German Shepherd that worked out how to open our rabbits hutch and i'll never forget the scene of pure horror that greeted us after one shopping trip ... let's just say Peter Rabbit was Pieces Rabbit, messy. Never put me off though. Got into fieldsports through one of my dad's mates who owns some land. Air rifles went into shotguns and then working dogs. It's all good.
