Well came home from work today to dog shit all over the house, and a not very lively terrier, she was on her feet but she had no go about her, the shit was black/bloody so I phoned the vet and took her in he gave her a quick jab and a 5 day course of saazopyrin pills, he told me what the condition was but it went in one ear and out the other, anyone educate me and have they ever experienced this?

Well a restless night making sure the wee bitch was ok, she is very lethargic, has no appetite, she has vomited a few occasions and I'm still getting the black bloody diarrhoea with slight anal leakage, also her tongue is very cold and an almost whitey pink colour, was told to give her the medication for a week, he did mention what it was it began with a C I'm sure, I googled the symptoms but drew a blank, has anyone experienced these symptoms and what should I expect? Just to put my mind at rest.

Is it Colotis? Did the terrier manage to get its head in the other nights curry by any chance?

That's it mate, diet hasn't changed, the only thing I can think of is the mother in law brought through gammon and gave them all that.

Al bet thats what it was mate. I think not positive but Gammon is usually really salty and that could have effected the dog. Was talking to a mate at a shoot and the end of the season and his lab had got out and it came home bloated. It was shitting and spewing everywhere and he reckoned it had been round the back of the chinkys and helped itself to a few curries... :bad: His dog was dour for a day but picked itself up.......think yer dog will be fine bud.........

If the dog is cold, has a pale tongue and gums you need to get it back to the vet FAST. Shock, internal bleeding, dehydration: all very dangerous. Don't mess about waiting to see if dog improves: IMO this is an emergency situation. Did the vets scan or xray the dog?

No he had a feel at her stomach, said she was gassed up, said that she was pale, gave her a jab and handed me the tablets, she is drinking plenty water, going out to relieve herself fine but apart from that she wants to just lay down, I'll give her to tea time see if she's gonna eat, if not I'll be on the phone.

Wee update, she managed a wee bit food Saturday night, even wandering around and got up on couch, Sunday she wouldn't move much and I had to carry her out for the toilet, took her back to the vet this morning and he's keeping her in, she's on a drip to hydrate her, he took a blood sample and her blood was almost ribena colour, he done tests but ruled out an edible problem, so she's staying overnight on a drip, to phone back tomorrow for an update.
