I know people may ask why greyhound I just want to give it a go because I know I can train it , plus I've heard of a few lads on hear working greys and if for some reason it don't make the grade it will stay with me and come mooching with my lurchers. aarontarget 8 Posted February 17, 2012 Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 well if anyone wants a greyhound for free to hunt with i could get something sorted for u , often 1 of my dads pups turn out no good at racing and go free to good homes ( good homes only !!!) but i wouldnt recomend a greyhound for hunting because they arnt the best at turning at the speed they go at , just my oppinion Quote Link to post

hare hunter 8 Posted February 17, 2012 Author Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 the man i supply my rabbits to for his racing greyhounds told me that he was walking the greyhound in a big open field and a hare got up and she caught him the next day he took her out and intended on getting one and killed another one and he said she put 5 or 6 turns in them and then she went in for the kill Quote Link to post

matt1979 766 Posted February 17, 2012 Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 My grandad and dad have both raced and breed greyhounds and they worked them all at the same time, not neccesarily the right thing to do to get the best out of them on the track, but they obviously enjoyed it and they must have been fairly good in the field, as they were regularly studing the dogs to various lurchers of my dads friends ( and not just to add pace). That said the greyhounds usually ended up losing a few toes from field work, which didnt help the track speed much. 1 Quote Link to post
