Bodygrip traps

Are the 'grippers any use for using on the open run's? I've used them on the fences, and about 12" from the fenceline/hedge on the run, but never used them right in the open.

Using approved spring traps (including body-grippers) in the open is illegal in the UK. Ministry approval for them is as follows -

 

The trap shall be used only for the purpose of killing or taking grey squirrels, mink, rabbits, stoats, weasels, rats, mice and other small ground vermin (except for those species listed in Schedules 5 and 6 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981) and set in a natural or artificial tunnel which is, in either case, suitable for the purpose.

OTC, if used in the open runs, i would have covered with an artificial tunnel. As i do when on fence's, wood's etc...
