Difficult one.

Personally, I'd send a letter to the licensing department explaining the facts of why you want it opened before its first renewal making sure you write it in as much detail as possible.

They rang me when I requested mine a few years back and said its been approved and send my certificate in.

Hi

That's the way to go mate , many years back when I wanted my rimfires to be changed to open condition I sent my cert and a letter stating the the reasons why I wanted it open and 6 weeks later it came back still closed as I had been knocked back, his reason was due to only having it a short time.anyway I didn't agree as I had a fair few years of experience behind my belt and been around shotguns and rifles from an early age and safety is second to none where I'm concerned,I phoned the person who made the decision and said I don't think u have read my letter right and that the short time i has held a fac was not a fair reason to refuse me,we talked safety etc and I asked him to re think the situation, resulted in sending back the cert for it to come back another month later on a open cert and with a 223 cf to go with it,ask him or her first and saves time and stress lol
