martnmagik 68
got one here with half its tooth snapped off. he did it a couple of years ago, the vet told me as long as its causing no pain and you cant see the nerve it will be ok. it is now a kind of dark yellow brown colour but still strong and not loose at all. ive also had one snap its tooth and it dropped out after a while and the ferret didnt seem to bother. so i shouldnt worry too much mate 1 Quote Link to post

Brimmer 220
If there's plenty of fang left, in the lower jaw they are usually ok, in the top row, it can be a little more serious. If its less than half the tooth i'd keep an eye on it just for the chance any abcess growing, there will be lots of signs though if things are going wrong. 1 Quote Link to post

ferret100 47
Chipped canines are pretty common. As long as the fert is eating well, with no redness around the gum of chipped tooth, no need to worry. Tooth might become yellow with plaque in the meantime, as fert will favour the 'normal' side for chewing for now, until it adjusts. Keep an eye, but in about 6 months chipped tooth will look very similar to other, just a bit shorter. Just watch for brown discolouration and bad breath (fert..), if so, vet visit, tooth abcesses are pretty unpleasant for all involved. Atb. Quote Link to post
