Advice on a beddy wippet

Recommended Posts

I got myself a second generation first cross 9 month old bitch to work with the ferrets and a bit lamping,

i no her back ground and have seen her parents work the lamp.. The guy who bought her at 6 weeks has worked basic obedience etc with her but thats it she aint seen a bunny in her life.

i have had her for 2 weeks, i kept her in for the first week to start and build a bond, we were getting on great, after a week i put her in the garage in a kennel and run next to my greyhounds, all she has done is twist and bark, ive tried the hose but now when ever she sees me she shakes and cries and tries to hide in her bed, if i take her in to the garden she just ignores me, if i take her in the kitchen she bounces all over and listens to commands 100%,

im not 1 for keeping dogs in the house so why is she so different in to out, will she get used to being out and i have tried her with a rabbit skin and she is shit scared of that aswell

Im no expert mate but i wouldnt hose her again , or shout at her for being noisy in the kennel sounds like she is a little timid , i would suggest if you are going to try and keep her in the kennel to ignore all any bad behaviour completely, dont go out to her or go near her if she is crying

Your problem is this:

i have had her for 2 weeks,

i kept her in for the first week to start and build a bond

, we were getting on great, after a week i put her in the garage in a kennel and run next to my greyhounds, all she has done is twist and bark,

ive tried the hose

you have totally confused the dog and now made it frightened that you are going to do something to it whilst its outside,

best thing you could have done is put it in the kennel from day one, not shoved it outside after having it indoors for a week

with the kennel you may have to take it slowly and take her out to do things like eat or play in the kennel,

so she associates it with good things - as at the moment all's she thinks is that your going to throw water at her

when ever shes in the kennel or outside and that shes being abandoned

For now i wouldn't worry about the rabbit skin dummy- shes still young and there's plenty of time for that

i would concentrate more on building a better bond and getting her to trust you again whilst outside,

you could always start with a small teddy so as she gets the feel for playing with stuff.
