fieldsportsman 107
went along today to a local 300 acre farm today. I arrived at the farm at about 9:00, said a quick hello to the farmer, and set of with his son. We started on a hedge line, where there was a small earth, netted up, and down went the ferrets. After about 5 min, I was thinking the ferrets may have made a kill, all of a sudden..."bang..bang", I turn around and see a rabbit running across the field, with the ferret, following its trail. Without waisting any more time, I box here up, and we move on to the next, again, we net up, sit and wait. 2 in the bag, 1 slipping the net. We start picking up the nets...and low and be hold I catch one of the jills and the farmers lads lab, drinking out of a puddle full of slug pellets . The farmers wife, drove me and the lad up to the vets, they make the dog sick, and give me this charcoal stuff and a check up on the ferrets. The farmers wife, then goes to the receptionist and pays the fee, which i am very greatful for. Any way, we get back, have a spot of lunch and move on to a bank....we net up and bolt another 4, missing 2. By this time, it was starting to get dark, the lad takes me to a bank, and its one of those earths where you know theres stuff in there, put the nets, and by christ there was some bolting, got 6, 0 loss . so we the end the day on 12. not a bad day.
