Ortovox D1

Not keen on the b&f liked the old grey box, heard it's like an up to date version of the grey box with a 40m radius, can't seem to find them supplied with the collar.

Not really, it takes a lot of practise to get used to, especially when digging. Other boxes are faster and simpler to use, for little extra cost

Over here in Germany 80-90% use the Orthovox location system. I got one myself and I'm very satisfied with it. It's easy to use, exact and very robust.

It doesn't say how depp or which direction, it only has a beep and lights.

I like the B&F, too, though the Orthovox is much cheaper.

I friend of mine just got the new B&F and we will compare them directly!

Cheers

The reason I am asking is I'm trying to get my bitch working, and I'm not overly keen on spending £250+ if she's not gonna work, she's keen as Ive had her out and once the experienced dog had been dug to, he was lifted and she was dropped in and done well, she's entering the holes but not venturing that deep, so I'm not wanting to spend fortunes on the chance she might or might not.

On the lowest setting;

1 light = 3 feet (1 metre)

2 lights= 2 feet

3 lights= 1 foot

second lowest setting

1 light = 9 feet(3 metres)

2 lights= 6 feet(2 metres)

3 lights= 3 feet(1 metre so switch to the lowest setting)

so the D1 gives depth accurately but takes a bit to get used to and in the stress of a dig people can struggle, unless they are German? LOL

What sort of price and where can you purchase this sort of kit?
