Favourite spot dying out

Bankzi

Recommended Posts

Just been up to my favourite ferretting spot today with the air rifles, usually the whole place is running wild with rabbits theres one spot where the whole bank side is moving theres that many but today nothing, not a thing. Now last time we were there was about 3 month ago and turned up today to find it deserted. Farmer reckons he hasnt seen as many about, we are the only people who work the land for rabbits and we are just amazed how it has turned from being overrun to nothing. No mixy ever seen there wondering if there is any other disease etc that could have wiped them out? Have to look for other spots now

If you haven't been there for three month pretty much anything could have happened ?.

Poached , ferreted etc .Myxi and buzzards foxes cleaned it up

not being poached as the farmer would know, we are the only ones that do the rabbiting and never seen mixy up there ever neitha has the farmer

Could well be vhd. It will probably end the rabbiting in this country, like mixy did back in the day.

Had it on a few spots last year still good numbers there this year

I will bet you that beard of yours it doesn't . )

Think it could be VHD, had abit of a read on it. Farmer did say his neighbour also a farmer seen a few hares with an illness and a few dead ones but no sign of mixy. Can this be moved into general forum to get a wider response please mods?

I take it there was no sign in the shape of corpses above ground, and no meddling around the warrens? A lot can happen in 3 months, mixi you will see the corpses even months later, if any ferreting has gone on you can usually see any meddling for weeks afterwards, the vhd from what i have seen in the past you would find corpses in the warrens found through digs. I'd say vhd, but with it being 3 months since the last visit, anything could have happened. Hope they bounce back.
