old timer123 367
Feck me OT...! 'Rule with an iron fist' etc... Personaly, i've never found the need for such treatment, quite the opposit in fact! Train and train well, then mind how you go.. That should be the cry here! I've seen far worse damage done form big rangy greyhoundy types, sporting serious ivory, in the first skirmishes of battle than big bull crosses. As bird said, no mythical hell beasts, just Lurchers, so don't paint 'em like one.. i agree bo if ye have from pups no need ... but some people have bought in... they still know there place in the pack... That's why when you buy a dog in you spend a few weeks with the dog getting to know each other and sort the pecking order out unless that's just me lol that is true but when out an a few dogs in back a motor an things start getting hyped up they gotter know whos boss or they end up in sick bay before the fun even starts lol... Guest Anubis
The thing is if people used a lead when in passing in a public place then situations like this will never happen. Better to be safe than sorry and i just find it polite to do so rather than let my hounds bother others. 8 Quote Link to post

Mydogsbetter 15
Larger deerhound crosses that I've owned and seen, although not usually instigators of aggressive behaviour, will stand their ground and fight bitterly when pressed. It's not just bull x's. I dare say plenty of people can tell of breeds prone to aggressive behaviour in certain circumstances. Old timer 123, you talk about pits being culled if they showed any aggression towards people, where did you get this nonsense from? I don't care how old you are, you aren't old enough to have had any involvement in the breeds development and there are many many breeders who've encouraged aggressive behaviour towards people and these dogs are prized for their guarding instinct. Pits aren't just for fighting and are used worldwide for hunting and guarding. Your iron fist approach is ridiculous and nonsense. Perhaps you could post a picture of you dog on the end of a lead quivering, afraid to do anything for fear of your beating. Hardly the recipe for a good worker if you've beaten any independence out of it. 1 Quote Link to post

Darylbob 10
i grew up with staffrordshires dogs and bitches and they were all untrustworthy around other dogs depending on sex like someone said earlier you have to have eyes in your arse and always be on the look out just an extra ball ache.a good dhx gh lovely calm temperament very laid back unless engaged first from my experiance , do anything your bull xs will apart from having a burning hate for anything with fur and four legs Quote Link to post
