had enough of bull xs

Sorry to hear that tale about your dog Spud, even more sorry for the old boy and his Russell but I think Wilf's nailed it with his post.

Plenty of Lurchers can be hell on other dogs and there is sommat about none hunting dogs that can really rub 'em up the wrong way, (even if they work alongside many other breeds throughout their working life but then thats the difference .. work!) A good strong, hard grafted bull bred dog can do some damage, especially if your not in there fast. You did what you did, for your reasons and.. it's probably for the best.

Best of luck with your next charge.

IMHO dogs like this should be left for their work not walked about in public amongst the common or garden dog walkers.....it's a disaster waiting to happen as can be seen. Some dogs are good at their

Have you had the dog from being a pup ? Perhaps the trainer may be more to blame than the dog ?   Cheers.

dog leads work well also. When you have been around bull breeds you learn to have eyes up ya arse and understand what you have on the end of the lead. The dog took it as a threat the terrier having

Sorry to hear that mate, i have been in a similar situation before myself, not great, but i wont run my dogs now anywhere near public places/footpaths etc, i had a collie whippet greyhound dog years ago, he was a heller with strange dogs, got me into a fair bit of bother on nuemorous occasions, so just saying its not always the bull blooded dogs, but of course when it does kick off with them, its always that little 'worse' to say the least, cheers.

Just to clear to the op, I wasn't trying to dig you out at all, just saying that's how I see it......unfortunately you don't know until the mistake happens.

You can only recognise the signs in certain animals when you have seen it before.

it shunt happen rul.e the dog not other way round a hard dog needs an hard owner rule with iron fist

A hard dog needs a hard owner? Bullshit I say a dog should be brought up the right way to respect it's owner

And that's not a dig at you spud ;-) think what the lads are saying is the russle started it so your dog wasn't in the wrong but as been said it's your choice mate

Bull x,s should be no more prone to this incident than any other lurcher/running dog type imo. Its all about training and tuning in with your dog thats all..no special formula just that. Why should bull x,s be ruled with an iron fist? Are they summat special as a breed type..i think not..they are just the same as any breed imo..the only difference maybe is the power of jaw they yield..atb stabba
