Rake aboot 4,936
After a wee zero session with the daystate, I ventured out last night to walk the caravan park, I only do this a few times during the off season and I am bringing in an FAC pcp for this job as well, but took allong the sub 12 , 177 Arrived quite late, around 10;15 or so, which gives the hardy campers a chance to get off to bed, and just had a walk around. Ended the night with a healthy bag. I was using the new trisar pro led lamp which was a revelation !! absoloutly brilliant, what I found was that you could get into position, and slowly bring up the light until you had a good shot, without spookig the rabbits, I took along the 4 a/hr that came with it, and this lasted a coupla hours, it then died off straight away ! no dimming, nothing, one second full power then dead, superb. Nipped home to get my 22 a/hr battery and went back to mop up a couple. If you don`t use led and lithium batteries, then get saving, you will NOT be dissapointed. Bloody amazing kit. Anyway. All was good apart from 2 rabbits. These were hit clean in the head, The daystate is a deadly tool for this, nice clinical shots, was just zeroed, and was at 11.7 ft/lb. but both these rabbits took to their heels !! Now anybody that hunts will have this sometimes,, bad hits that leave a rabbit escaped, Anyone who says otherwise is a kidder, but these two well well hit, right in the scone. I was really gutted as I hate to think they will die later. OR worse, will keel over out in the open, on the park. The wardens dog should find them early, but still dissapointing. After each "miss" the gun was checked, and then other rabbits were shot ! I dunno !? But anyway. Good result, and another LUCKY ! black one for all the superstitious among you ! hahahahahahahahaha 1 Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,936
Yeh , It happens, but it`s unusual with this rifle, On the lamp you can follow the pellet track and watch the impact, but then it can happen anytime I suppose,, I mean people get shot in the heed and survive ! so ,,, Quote Link to post

jasper65 6
Top bombing Rake, sounds and looks like a good session . Out of interested do you find the Daystate favours certain makes of pellets? My .177 Air Ranger seems pretty choosey but settles down nice with either Field Target Trophy or Diablo Exacts. been useing up my last batch of Exacts and must say they seem to have the egde over the FTT's and pretty lethal. Been bagging a few pigeons on a few days as they come into to roost in the back wood and loving getting out again with the old gun, its also helping to fill the freezer up for the fourth coming breeding season. if you was closer mate I would buy all your kills off you if they was available ... Yeh mate I`m the same,, my freezers filled to the brim, so I`m on to her fridge freezer now as well,, make hay and all that ! Quote Link to post

I'm sure mine shoots better with one mag more than the other, just fitted the single shot tray after reading your post to see how things go ..... Quote Link to post

Jasp good bag chap well done. my guns loves the jsb exact even running at 1000fps or the jsb 18.1g running at 950 fps. if using anything else it mostly shoots ok but use bisley magnums and it like shot gun shot after 60ys. mag or silver tray makes little difference with accuracy. had a mapie today at 99 yards with the 18.1grains stood resting on the wall so the gun is flawless with jsb exacts. my gun is a airwolf mvt fac.
