juckler123 707
Thats not strictly true like any first cross mating to a collie type its about being able to pick the pup thats thrown right if you can afford to run the pups on a bit till they are 12 wks or so it will make picking the right one easier Quote Link to post
tote 856
You've asked for opinions so here's mine. I wouldn't mate the two of them together,I think most of them will turn out heavy set.But then again you don't say what you want the pups to do when they are older. If you are keen on breeding from the dam it might be a better idea to put a greyhound over her,of course that would increase the height of the pups. Quote Link to post

luke 2
i find it pointless to breed whippet sized lurchers as whippets will out match any small lurcher.whats the point in sacrificing speed and strike for coat and stamina Quote Link to post
snoopdog 1,256
it would be handy to no what you want to work the pups on . ..all the same they wouldnt be my cup of tea ... the kelpie cross isnt leggy enough and looks heavy .....jmo....best of luck what ever you choose to do .... shepp 2,285
Go for a decent greyhound stud, whippet / collie crosses are nearly always too heavy for most things. The whippet frame just won't take the cross well and there will be too much wastage. Quote Link to post
pilgrim1982 0
I was thinking a whippet/kelpie would make a good rabbit dog. Especially if you chose a more lightly built kelpie. Kelpie are very good at stalking things so i would say it would make quite a cunning hunter. Probably good for feather as well. Quote Link to post
