Moll. 1,770
My lurcher has a baldy patch mid tail. It is not due to fleas, grooming etc, it is just something some dogs get like baldy thighs. He has had is since he was young
Forrest Gump 10
One of mine had a bald patch on his tail, as he got older it seemed to grow back on it's own after about a year of it being bald.
nottzhunter08 898
It is possibly the same as he's had it for a while
Moll. 1,770
I think it may be hereditory, i can remember seeing photos of my lurchers litter sister and she had it exactly the same

5atchers 2
My greyhounds had it the last two winters now .I thought it might be the central heating cus she sleeps up against radiator.I use tee tree oil to stop it drying out.
running addiction 207
Was talking to grey vet few wks back about this he said the balding of the tail is to high protein in diet, balding thighs down to hormones..it comes and goes with mine..but as moll says i thought it might have been hereditory or somethibg to do with there make up mostly lurchers with high % of grey or whip seem to suffer with it
MissRhianL 70
Diprobase works great for stuff like that. Its about £2.00 in any chemist for a big tube. It eases the itching and clear up dry skin making the skin hydrates so it promotes the hair to grow back. Ive used it on dogs and ferrets its good stuff and affordable

sandymere 8,263
It’s a gland, (violet or supracaudal), that is more active in males, more noticeable in fine coated dogs like whippets and greys, can get infected. Some use degreasing shampoos etc, usually more cosmetic than problematic, vet if looks infested otherwise its normal.
