jill jab

Recommended Posts

just been reading past posts -- there is a mention of the jill jab , how often would this be needed , how much do they cost .

if a ferret is spayed , does it affect there working at all , would it increase in weight , are there any pros and cons for it .

as you can tell i,m new to this , found this ferret last night in the feed room at the stables , she seems

tame-ish , but dont know what to do with her .

got her in a metal gage 2ft by 3ft with straw bedding , water and dry go-cat .

any help and advice welcomed :thumbs-up: .

Well personally i dont think a neutered ferret works any better or worse than any other ferret, the jill jab should only need doing once per season, possibly twice at a push :)

:drinks: There are loads of different ways people keep their ferts, and most sensible methods lead to happy ferrets.

As for food for the ferret, I feed mine on dried foods. "James Wellbeloved" is easy to get and costs £35-40 but a sack will last for months if kept right. I use "Chudley's Ferret Complete" and pay £20.50 at the local pet/horsey shop.

In the meantime, cat food can't be bad, but will mount up in cost. Ferrets can't half eat. Raw meat is always popular too.

Ferrets like as big a cage as you can find, but keep dry and make sure there is somewhere for a warm nest (wooden box with hole in is good. )

There are lots off good books so have a look on Ebay or Amazon, and check the 2nd had listings, often cheaper. Graham Wellstead, James MacKay and Jackie Drayford have all written great biooks on the subject.

Any other problems, just ask us here on the forum.
