reddawn 2,173
i need a dog to jump, but i do agree double fences are a bit of a fooker, i tend to try an get my dog round or under most of them, but there is sometimes i need them to go over, an old bitch learning to jump. Mick C. 229
Sometimes its not the actual jump that un does the dog Working a dog at night that jumps when in full flight on rabbit is not for the faint hearted. Ground that falls away sharpley on landing can sometimes bring a run to an unexpected end. hoof divits can also play there part in bringing down a born jumper. My dogs jump when i need to climb over a gate or fence. But that full on harum scarum stuff. Well thats somthing else. Quote Link to post
johnny boy68 11,726
Where I do most of my hunting its essential that a dog jumps and jumps well, double strand barb everywhere down here. Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
i think teaching jumping is essential but just as important is giving the dog enough experience so that it knows when to and when not to Quote Link to post
long dogs 580
What a f*****g stupid thing to do! Jumpings fine but making a dog jump double barbed fences just to try and get a pat on the back is a c**ts game! you are true mate thats dog men for you not all dog men are the same Quote Link to post

Guest Anubis
Its all fences and padlocked gates round by me so i like the dogs to be able to jump on command. 4 Quote Link to post
Guest FTBBTH
i dont make the dog do it, its just easiest for him and me, as anybody does i started him on small pieced of wood styles, and gradually built him up, alot of time and effort went into getting him fit and ready to jumpthat himself, and hes not going to risk it by stand jumping, he takes a good run up, so if you dont like it dont look great pics everyone, i love to see lurchers jumping as much as anything Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
hace any of you got some good pictures of lurchers jumping? heres mine jumping 2 fences in 1 cheers The dog seems to cover the fences with confidence, its been well trained.A dog that cannot navigate obstacles it may encounter in the field,is a dog thats going to come second on a chase. You cannot possibly expect your quarry to only run where it is safe for the mutt to follow and not wanting to risk injury to the dog, keep it on a lead. 2 Quote Link to post
