Little Butch 16
Got a 16 month old Staffy that I picked up this week and looking to get some decent grub into him.. I've got a mate who works at a butchers and he said if I turn up tomorrow I can take some bits for free. What kind of thing is safe to feed him? Necks, ears, trotters? What bones? Little Butch 16
So things like scraps apart from pork, necks, trotters, ears, and bones.. What about big ones like leg bones?
Gunner123 103
Load bearing bones usually alot tougher and said not to be as good for a dog, if there is a load of meat still left on i would let them/him work away. Did you take the staff/boxer cross LB ?
Little Butch 16
Okay what about things like ribs? Yeah got him, he's 3/4 Staffy 1/4 Boxer but looks like a staff.. I'll weigh him and measure him at the weekend and stick a few photos up
Westy76 546
Get your man to run all the scraps(but not lamb bones)through the mincer for you, much easier to bag up and freeze and the pup will love it. Good luck with the new one, look forward to setting the pics.

Lamb neck and ribs are the safest bones .......and chicken carcases and wings. Don't try and feed heavy duty beef sinew, huge tendons or masses of fat either: a lot of butcher's waste is made up of this and some dogs just throw it back up again, or it goes straight through them.
