GruffaloGriff 1,859
Hi all, i am right handed but left eye dominant, so shoot as a left handed person would. Makes a bit awkward to use a gun with a right hand specific stock. Also tried a right handed compond bow, which definately dosn't work for me. Just wondering if anyone else if left eye dominant but right handed? What do you use as a shooter? Is an either left or right specific stock a benifit? I have a universal on my HW35 so it dosn't matter but i have the chanse of a rapid 7 and it has a RH stock but i can still use it ok, but obviously would sit better if it was universal or indeed a LH stock. gurtwurz 792
hi griff, i'm a leftie, left handed writing, left eye dominant etc but i shoot right handed cos thats how i was taught to way back when i was in cadets(its crap trying to shoot a .303 lee enfield left handed), and now if i try to shoot southpaw i cant do it at all generally speaking tho, its better to use an ambidextrous or L/H stock if youre that way inclined as it will be a lot easier to gain consistant shooting. you can use a R/H stock but it'll make your life loads harder as you wont be able to get your mush in a consistant position so well. cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
bryanm45 787
Hi guys I'm left handed and used to shoot the SLR and SA80 and the ejection was in front of your face but it was ok still did it to prove a point. Regards Bryan Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Griff. Same problem as you, but the other way around, Im left handed, but right eye dominant To make things worse, my left eye is lazy, the right is the stronger of the two Although I can shoot left or right handed, it feels more natural, comfortable shooting left handed. As Wurz has said, you would be better off with an Ambi stock, or a dedicated left hand stock. Using a right hander, you would find it difficult to maintain a comfortable, repeatable, shooting position. Good luck mate. ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post

GruffaloGriff 1,859
right handed , left eyed , thats why my shootings so bad ................ Grew up in rural USA and got my first gun BBgun at 6years old and been shooting air rifles ever since. Never realy botherd me, only ever notice when i pick up a right specific gun. Still work the bolt etc with my right. Not the best shot in the world but had plenty of rabbits in my time and lost count of the rats. Speaking of BB guns, don't seem to be many about in the uk, any reason for this? Probabally not as accurate as pellets but you could pour a tube of 200 bb's in to my old Daisy lever action and fire 2-3 per second untill they were all gone. Great fun as a kid, not so good for small feathered and fured creatures though, just as well i have more sense now. Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
Hey mate Exactly the same, right handed left eyed, I shoot on my left as always have. Until 10 months ago I was only shooting Ambi or left handed stocks. Then I bought a BSA S10 with a right handed stock and was amazed that apart from the odd feeling at first, I could get as gooder groups as I could with an Ambi stock. I bought a r/h R-10 and again, once used to it (bit more of a razor edge to the comb) I was pretty happy with the results so have been putting off the expense in buying a new stock or having them converted. Good to know i am not the only one. Like you i get good enough grouping with a RH stock but it feels a bit strange at first. Quote Link to post
