Darrenm 0
I have a 12 yr old son and I'm looking to buy him a second hand springer setup, can anyone advise what gun would be a suitable for him to start with? Obviously weight and size plays a big part. Darren Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
How tall is he? We could be looking at a gun for a tall 12 year old and he might need a slightly larger rifle! Last night on the local news there was a 15 year old who is 6 foot 10 inches tall on! He might be able to cope with an HW95! Edited February 8, 2012 by secretagentmole Quote Link to post
GruffaloGriff 1,858
HW 35 , quality , reliability good starter I agree a Hw35 is a cracking gun. My dad bought one when i was 9yrs and i went halfs on the money £40 each. That was a lot back then- my whole lifes savings infact! I inherited it when i became old enought o legally own it.It seems a very heavy gun now but never bothered me as a kid. Infact i just fitted a scope to it for the first time lastnight (having allways used the open sights it came with)as i was considering looking for something else. With the sights though is is amazingly accurate so think i will keep the old gun. Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
I can't knock the BSA Lightening XL that I bought for my wife years ago, as a starter springer for about £200 from a Game Fair. As accurate as needed in .22 to 40m, easy to point, well balanced and light enough to carry all day. Not had a problem with it appart from a service for £50.00 6 years in after the spring started boinging. Quote Link to post

Acuspell 329
s200 - a good used one for around £200 - £250. Stock is easy to mod to suit him, light, pointable and very, very accurate. Will maintain it value, oris a gun that he can still be proud to use when he is 21 or over. Remember, it is not HIS gun, it can't be by law....it is yours that he is using! Edited February 10, 2012 by Acuspell Quote Link to post
