how did you rate them? heard of the cross but never saw it in the flesh

my experiences of them isnt great to tell you the truth i worked a bitch, she had a good nose and once on a scent was gone but didnt have any bottle and wasnt over blessed with brains. i will say she appeared to have deccent feet and looked smart enough but that was about as far as it went.

How was she bred trigger2? Was she bred from the Redlines that came over from the Canada, or was she from English bred stuff? I'm no expert, but the English ones have been show bred for so long I'd imagine many would have lost a lot of their original good hunting instincts and traits. Bottle and nose are just two of the traits I would say epitomize the Airedale. Mind you, not even the best bred dogs make the grade all of the time. I guess I got lucky with mine.

i know its not airdale but my father at present has a lakey/whippet, an trust me , she is devastating on rabbits. when we take her out with my dogs, she tends to flush most things, but over a short burst of 60mtr her acceleration from 0-full speed is awesome. I should state she also has the heart of a lion and shys away from nothing, which can also be a downside.

Don't forget mine aren't Airedale Grey first cross, as the lurcher sire is a Saluki/Grey, more Saluki than Grey. One of my pups is soft, gentle, not hard like the Airedale, though she has the same nose and hunting drive, but the other one is pure Airedale in her head: with longer legs. Very hard bitch, doing well so far on vermin and on the lamp.

I've not done any recent photos but if you look back through my posts on Schuck and Lena you'll see how they were at around a year old.

Any chance of a good picture?

she was a english bred airedale bitch cross with a greyhound. her nose was very good, Tbh she wasnt in the most experienced dog mans hands before my mate brought her in whcih didnt help her much at all.

I admit I haven't met many English Airedales, but those I have met, without exception, were brain dead pets, with no spark of intelligence in their eyes. Very different to mine, who is wired from the moment she gets out of the van. Her work ethic is up there with the best hunting dogs I've known, and her daughters are the same. I'd almost go so far as to say they're keener than her, but of course they have good working Sal/Grey in them as well.
