RussBoy 77
Just a question that a mate of mine was asking the other day. He mainly beats and picks up on pheasant shoots, also does a bit of rough shooting and bit of duck flighting. He has always liked the look of the german pointers but was wondering if they could be "trained" to work and hunt in the beating line like a spaniel and a lab, and also for duck flighting etc?? He kinows the are an HPR breed but wondered if they could be used for the above. Also would the smooth or wire haired be best etc?? Cheers folks. Quote Link to post
stroller 341
yes they can but they need time to grow up and a beating line is an exciting place for a young dog, plus you will need it rock steady to rabbits and hares and perfect to the drop as you dont want it running into the guns. Most dogs get street wise after a season or two and will adapt their styles to whats needed. Quote Link to post
