To all the welsh people on here,i have a couple of questions

i once went to a lovely little place in Wales. LLanfairtryllewlleclan......sorry - I had a hair in my mouth.

i went to Swansea!

 

my bit of Welsh info... when I was a boy my Dad (god rest him) had some mates in a tiny village in the Rhondda. i don't remember the name, but i recall him being amazed that the road leading into the village reached the foot of a mountain and just stopped ! He said their hospitality was second to none, and he always looked forward to the trip. Just wish I could remember the name...some of you might know it.

In the Rhondda there are a few villages like that, Blaenrhondda, Blaen y cwm, Clydach vale it's hilly country.

Ive heard some English guys say we Welsh always turn to the Welsh language if an Englishman comes into a pub here but ive never seen this at all. I reckon we are pretty welcoming in the valleys.

What probably never entered their minds is, that they were already speaking Welsh before they came in.

ovcourse nowadays and for the past 30/40 years kids are taught welsh in welsh schools, theres even specail welsh schools for kids to go to , instead of going to a normal english school where welsh lesson only comes once a week

I'm an Englishman, I lived in Neath for 4 years. About 2 years ago. I never EVER felt unwelcome, aside from the odd bit of banter which if you take it as it is intended is no bother.
