My asumptions about him were not only from wat i read in books but from a few old boys in my area who hunted with him now and again [bANNED TEXT] he was a school teacher here in the late 60s and never owned a lurcher then.atb dell Quote Link to post

barryh11 14
Yeah how can he have passed judgement on something when he never owned a lurcher in particular a saluki or saluki cross yeah I will say it Has taken me somtime but I now have my saluki x dogs working with versatilty and determenation and agility that many can't believe the way they work in the field because they were bred in a way to run hare's here in small field's and on the fenlands although hare's in the area I hunt seek refuge in mountins and heather covered and stoney ground were a certain degree of safety for them for if they were down in the lower field's they would be run and hunted until the numbers have gone to nothing although me and my father have seen one or two on lower ground some month's ago but have never seen them again in that area maybe they come down to mate and feed for that I am not sure but I am rambleing on what do you think mate.. jcm 2,327
I agree. I have a saluki x pup 10 month old not the most experianced dog but he hunts up and flushes rabbits phesants etc from cover ansd is able to catch the flushed game to. He is also a handy dog for ferreting and works the lamp with ease and if out shooting with thr catty or air rifles will find and retrive the game shot. A use my saluki x for alsorts hes a joy to own and work along side. Afriend of mine has a saluki x aswell and he rates them of high standard to as they have good noeses on them and endless stamina and will have a go at anything asked of them Quote Link to post
barryh11 14
Hold onto him and give time mate and your pup will come good and go from strength to strength as i done my saluki x dog has taken fox day and night if thats what you want your dog to do he will do it in his own time don't try and rush him ease him into it and you will have top dog to hunt with.. Blue one 89
Here's Barryh11's five year old bitch Fern....raised in Ireland, hunted in small enclosed land and jumps like a stag! Thats a grand bitch Bolio, how is she bred and how tall is she? Quote Link to post
BOLIO1 1,078
Her dam was bred 3/4 the same way as Dancer....(same mother and the fathers were half brothers) and sire was a son of Beast...(Drax x Peggy). Barryh11 will have to answer that but my impression is she's around 25 ins....Celt is a fair bit taller. Edited February 11, 2012 by BOLIO1 Quote Link to post
